I am usually very savvy and not prone to falling for scams and such, but, well ... have a look at this. The person who circulated the email definitely made it sound like he personally knew the sender, and when I asked for contact info, told me to say I'd been referred by his wife (there was none of the Ottawa stuff either, just the pix and an email address). Man o man. I think the person whose email I was given has turned to a life of spamination because there's since been a steady uptick in the amount of excessively exclaimed-and-otherwise-punctuated email sneaking past the ol' filters.
In the interests of fair and complete reporting, I gathered facts at the State Street Marshall Fields today. Man bags were: ugly ... ugly ... girly ... ugly ... holy leather nubble ... ugly ... stupid ... only frank costanza would carry that ... way too complicated ... too fussy ... too cheap ... aaaaand ugly.
And that Jack Spade has some nerve asking $400 for a flippy flappy bit of a canvas shoulder bag.
In the meantime, I ordered a puppy care book and am still contemplating the dog route, but there will not be an actual dog, just the promise of one. Thanks to you all for the extremely helpful feedback. I'll let you know what I decide. Bday is next Saturday.
One week of BCP left. Tick tick.
Yes but you're a very, very nice doofbutt(That title made me laugh)

I always check the emails I get forwarded from friends against the urban legend website and then I like to reply back to them and tell them that Sad Suzy who had both ears removed to help save her little brother's belly button is a hoax.
My friends don't send me as much crap as they use to.

Those emails get on my nerves. On everyone's nerves -- we're all doofbutts at some point.
I hope you get the puppy!

Thank goodness no one sends me the spam emails any more after I read my mother and SIL the riot act a year or so ago. Good luck with the present buying...Have you tried Tanner Krolle?

Gah! Finding the perfect present is so frustrating.
Hoping it goes well and these last five days go quickly.
